“After many years working in Law, I was given an opportunity to teach Law A Level. This is something the College is sponsoring me through on the CertEd, so that I have a teaching qualification as well.
We learn how important it is to bring active learning into the classroom, and we do a lot of academic reading around that as part of the course but also lots of practical, hands-on microteaching, so we gain day-to-day skills as well.”
“The tutors are great, they are so experienced and act as mentors as well as tutors and my peers are just incredible…It’s just been a warm, welcoming and supportive group.
The quality of the course was incredible too, the way it was structured and delivered is excellent. It aligns to the national framework by the National Counselling Society, which is a brilliant link as it is the professional body who you will be part of when you qualify.”
“I chose the course because I felt that the IT subjects covered on the course, such as databases and software development, would be beneficial for my career. The course is really good, the content is engaging and the support is great too. My plans are to go into a data-based, analyst type job and the course has prepared me for employment and the knowledge I have acquired will be applicable in my career. I would highly recommend studying at Exeter College’s Institute of Technology, the teachers and my classmates are really supportive and there are enough resources to do well.”
“I feel the knowledge I have gained is my biggest achievement and an asset. This especially reflects with the higher education course inline with industry work. Engineering is extremely broad and it is clear that teaching this has been approached with a high level of care and diligence with the HNC I am a part of. This is especially impressive when considering individuals like me who are in industry and the commitments brought with this.”
“I thought when I started that the traditional way of going to university wasn’t for me, this is a good way to break it down and carry on into the future. I felt like this course would keep my options open as I am still not too sure what I want to do.”
“I started at the College when I turned 16, studying Level 1 Business, so I have progressed all the way from Level 1 to Level 6. I feel really proud of myself. The teachers are always there to help you whenever you need anything, it’s been a brilliant experience. I would 100% recommend Exeter College, I wouldn’t be where I am today if I hadn’t come here.”
“When I came to College the course replicated the life of a professional rugby player. This kickstarted my physical progression and really helped with my rugby journey. I do my degree part time on Mondays and Thursdays, and train around those times, then I coach in the mornings usually. My days fit in quite nicely around each other!”
