What topics will I study?
Working directly from the model, you will be looking at Line, Tone, and Colour. This will include the basics of correct proportions, looking at the darks and lights that play across the figure, and the colour within these darks and lights. Finally we will be considering editing and abstracting within figure work.
Each session will consist of warm up exercises that are relevant to the session theme and often focussing on one particular feature .eg. eyes, nose, mouth, ears, hands etc. These exercises are then followed by a single long pose. Here the emphasis is on developing your individual work through one to one tuition.
We will also be referencing historical and contemporary artists’ work. Learning takes place through a combination of tutor explanation, peer group exercises, one to one tuition, practical demonstrations as well as learning from other class members.
You can progress as far as you choose – gaining a portfolio of work with which to apply to colleges for formal qualifications, or you can directly exhibit and sell your work.
- Entry Requirements
