Overview

This course is a personal development course for 16-18 year olds that is aimed at students who might find it hard to be in large groups, social situations and are lacking confidence and self-esteem.

On this course you will:

Begin on a one to one basis with the New Directions Tutor, where you will set targets to work on over the 12 week period and begin working towards a project on a subject area of interest. You will gradually build up the amount of time in college and working with other young people. Taught sessions on topics such as confidence, anxiety and stress management will help you achieve your goals.

  • If you feel working with a tutor one-to-one and slowly improving your social skills and confidence would benefit you

Progression

Your progression will be dependent on qualifications achieved prior to this course, but could include; Independence Gateway, Skills Gateway, Progression Gateway, BTEC Level 1 or 2 or GCSE Fast-track

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

Facilities

There is a refectory at Victoria House and a learning centre, which is close by.

There are disabled toilet facilities.

Additional Costs

You will have to pay your travel costs to and from college (a bursary is available for those that may need it).

This further education course is free for all 16-18 year olds who are resident in the UK and the European Economic Area for the last 3 years. (You must be under 19 on 31st August in the calendar year that you start your course).
