This course is demanding and fast paced. You need to be willing to work independently for three or four hours a week in addition to attending your class regularly. Your teachers will be supportive and will guide you but you will also need to make use of online resources such as Maths Watch in order to succeed in the three exams at the end of the year. GCSE Maths is a key qualification and is suitable for native British learners who got a grade D in their GCSE at school (or a Grade 3 if GCSE was taken in the past two years) or bilingual learners who have achieved ESOL Level 1 in reading and speaking and listening.

Overview

This course is designed for practising middle managers and those aspiring to senior management who want to develop core management skills such as managing resources, recruitment and information management. With a more comprehensive structure, our Level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership gives you all the key skills and competencies you’ll need to become an effective middle manager. A Diploma in Management and Leadership is the benchmark qualification for full CMI membership, taking you another step towards Chartered Manager status.

This course gives you a broader knowledge of middle management skills while focusing on the specific leadership areas appropriate to you and your workplace. This qualification supports middle managers in understanding the key management principles, the way organisations operate, the nature of teams in the workplace, and how these can be managed to achieve results.

You will strengthen and develop your knowledge of middle management by focusing on key management principles. You will develop or sharpen your professional edge and enhance personal effectiveness. You will evaluate the impact of an organisation’s structure and governance on management and leadership. Plus explore theoretical models, management and leadership styles and approaches designed to promote a culture of mutual trust, respect and support.

Entry Requirements

Five GCSEs at Grade C (or Grade 4) and above although other relevant or prior work experience may also be considered as an alternative. Learners will need to have access to a PC with internet connection to access online resources and complete assignments.

Facilities

All learners attending the course will have access to an online classroom which contains resources to support unit delivery as well as gaining CMI membership allowing them to use the CMI ManagementDirect library of resources.
