Leisure Operations – Intermediate Apprenticeship

A Leisure Operations Apprentice will support, enhance and deliver the day-to-day operations and services of a leisure/fitness facility.

A Leisure Operations Apprentice will support, enhance and deliver the day-to-day operations and services of a leisure/fitness facility. You will work as part of a team and undertake a range of operational duties, such as assisting with the opening and closing of the facility, undertaking routine maintenance of equipment, and maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the environment.

Topics include:

  • Understand the sports and leisure activities, products and services offered by the leisure facility, and how to match them to different types of customers’ needs
  • Learn coaching and motivational techniques such as how to plan for group activity sessions
  • Lead group activity sessions and adapt to variations in ability
  • Develop your communication skills to effectively work within a team
  • Ensure you understand relevant Health and Safety regulations and that they are put into place
  • Learn to effectively use IT including front of house systems, social media and digital channels

Next steps… Some Apprentices go into employment OR progress onto a Level 3 Leisure Management Apprenticeship.

Entry Requirements

Every employer is different and therefore the entry requirements can vary. As a guide you ideally need to have experience in the leisure industry and already hold a Level
2 leisure industry related qualification and GCSE grade 4 in English and Maths, however, we will work with you and provide additional support in order to help you achieve the functional skills element or GCSE requirements of the Apprenticeship. Support can be delivered either prior to your Apprenticeship via a Pre-Apprenticeship or during the delivery of your programme.


You will have access to a fully equipped gym, learning resource centre and cafe.?
