Overview

This course is aimed at candidates who have previously achieved a Level 2 automotive qualification and wish to progress through a technical certificate which can be used for entry onto MOT training. This is a lifetime qualification and has no expiry.

You will study for two days per week covering diagnostic principles accessing the faculty’s range of equipment and resources which are of industry standard.

You will be assessed through a variety of methods to include practical assessment of simulated faults on vehicles as well as external multi choice online assessment.

*This course is eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan. Level 3 and 4 courses for those aged 19 and over (on the date you start a course) no longer receive Government funding so the learner is responsible for the full cost of the course. Please contact 01392 400170 to find out more.

  • Diagnose and rectify heavy vehicle engine faults
  • Diagnose and rectify heavy vehicle chassis faults
  • Diagnose and rectify heavy vehicle electrical faults
  • Diagnose and rectify heavy vehicle transmission faults

Level 4 certificate in advance motor vehicle studies

Entry Requirements

Candidates will have a Level 2 heavy vehicle qualification and have 3 completed years of experience in the light vehicle field.

Facilities

Access to modern vehicle workshop with ramps and industry specification resources such as a live MOT bay, Snap-on diagnostics, Pico scope, Texa diagnostics, Air Conditioning charge station and a range of modern vehicles. Experienced staff with a wealth of knowledge from Franchise to Non Franchise dealerships.
