This qualification is available at Level 3 only, which is the level that the Electrotechnical industry recognises learners as having achieved the competence required to carry out the role.

The NVQ Diploma in Electrical Installation is a four year course. You will attend college one day per week for three years to study the Technical Certificate whilst working the rest of the week with your employer gathering evidence of practical assignments for your NVQ portfolio. Assessment will be by a combination of practical assignments, written and on-line exams.

In order to qualify as an electrician you will need to complete both the Diploma and the NVQ part of the qualification.

Entry Requirements

The minimum entry requirements are normally GCSE grade C in Maths, English & Science or equivalent. Please contact faculty if you have any queries. For applicants without these minimum qualifications we can arrange an assessment.


Trade specific classroom, dedicated electrical training bays, IT suite, Learning Resource Centre, on site café and student social area.
