This AAT qualification is a competence-based qualification that gives you the relevant and practical skills to do a wide range of accounting and finance jobs.

In this qualification you will master more complex accounting disciplines including financial processes, advanced bookkeeping, final accounts and ethical practices for accountants.

This qualification is currently equivalent to 160 UCAS points and may support your application to university.

What topics will I study?

The AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting consists of four mandatory units:
  • Business Awareness
  • Financial Accounting: Preparing Financial Statements
  • Management Accounting Techniques
  • Tax Processes for Businesses

You will be assessed through time constrained competence-basic external online examinations on each of the above units during the programme.

Entry Requirements

It is expected that you will already have a high grade in the Association of Accounting Technicians Level 2 in Accountingyour Level 2 tutors recommendation to progress ana good attendance record, demonstrating that you have the skills and motivatiorequired to succeed at Level 3We stronglrecommend that yoattain GCSE Maths and English grades of 4 or above (or C or above) before starting this courseYou will be expected to complete an Exceinitial assessment prior to acceptance onto the course and should be prepared to undertake some Excel self-study in preparation for thspreadsheets element of the management accounting techniques unit during the first term.

Facilities

You will study at our Hele Road site or Future Skills Centre, which opened in 2021 near Exeter Airport. The centre focuses on courses for high-tech jobs in aeronautical, engineering, digital, construction and clean growth. There is a free car park and a cafeteria.

Additional Costs

AAT membership for 12 months costs approximately £150. You will also need course books (approx costs £50-£130 depending if short or long course).
