What is it like to study this course and how will I be assessed?

This qualification is designed for anyone looking to develop their understanding of mental ill health and the causes of mental distress. You will develop an understanding of the specific mental ill health topic in relation to symptoms, experience for the individual, support needs, how the disorder can be managed and treated, and the roles and needs of family and friends. All resources will be provided. There is no college attendance required.

  • 18th September 2017 to the 17th September 2018.
  • 15th January 2018 to the 14th January 2019.
  • 16th April 2018 to the 15th October 2019.

What facilities are there?

Although this is independent learning you will have a designated skills officer who will mark your work and feed back to you. Once enrolled you will be given a pack which includes:

  • Workbooks: These are the learning resource for the units. They also give you the space to make notes and complete activities.
  • Assessment booklets:  These are the questions and assessment booklets that you will complete when you feel confident about answering the questions. You can decide whether to submit all the assessments at one time or one at a time.

It is important that you apply and pay for your course at least one week before the course starts to ensure that you will have access to all the facilities and resources in your first week.
Please be aware that there are no car parking facilities at Exeter College city centre sites, but public car parks are available across the city.
