What is it like to study this course and how will I be assessed?

Microsoft Office Specialist qualifications are industry recognised certifications that provide valuable desktop computing skills necessary to be most effective on the job.

More than a simple credential, Microsoft Office Specialist certification notifies prospective employers that a Microsoft Office Specialist certified applicant is prepared to make immediate contributions in the workplace. Microsoft Office Specialists will be qualified to meet greater challenges, possessing the knowledge and ability to be more productive and share information in a compelling, intuitive manner.

The course is delivered through E-Learning that you can study at your own pace, with Microsoft approved course material and practical resources. Remote tutor support is also available for questions and troubleshooting.

Upon completion of the E-Learning, you will complete a Microsoft Certification exam for your chosen Office Product.

What are the entry requirements?

A good knowledge of basic computer usage, with a desire to learn more.

You must be able to travel to Exeter College for your final exam.

To study this course you will need to be committed and self motivated to pursue E-Learning.

What facilities are there?

Online Microsoft Academy E-Learning access, Exeter College IT Testing Suite.

What can the course lead on to?

Upon completion of the Word Specialist qualification, you could go on to study another product like Excel, Word or Outlook.

Alternatively, you could go on to study Microsoft Office products at Expert Level, and then go even further to study towards a Microsoft Office Master certification.

Achievement can also lead enhancing progression in your current career, by demonstrating broader IT Skills.

Are there any additional costs?

Course fee includes E-Learning access and 1 Exam sitting. Exam re-takes will incur an additional fee.


It is important that you apply and pay for your course at least one week before the course starts to ensure that you will have access to all the facilities and resources in your first week.
Please be aware that there are no car parking facilities at Exeter College city centre sites, but public car parks are available across the city.
