What is it like to study this course and how will I be assessed?

This Higher Apprenticeship programme will develop your underpinning knowledge and help you to gain experience of devising and directing engineering projects. The course offers a practical approach by combining an academic HNC course with a workplace assessed NVQ 4.

• Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing
• Quality and Business Improvement
• Materials Engineering

• Advanced Computer Aided Design Techniques

Optional topics include:

• Electrical and Electronic Principles
• Manufacturing Planning and Scheduling Principles
• Programmable Logic Controllers
• Electrical Power
• Principles and Applications of Microcontrollers

What experiences will I get?

You will benefit from links with companies across Devon and gain invaluable skills within industry. 

What are the entry requirements?

Learners must have completed an Advanced Apprenticeship in Engineering and should ideally have English and Maths GCSE’s at Grade C/4 and above.

What facilities are there?

Apprentices have access to all facilities across college, in particular the new state of the art equipment at our Technology Centre. These extend to the college Learning Resource Centres and the College Gym. 

What can the course lead on to?

This Apprenticeship programme provides an excellent platform to build your career and progress to a HND course or degree level further training in the field of Mechanical Engineering.

What support can I get?

You will have a dedicated Skills Officer who you can contact at any time. They will visit you in the workplace every 10 weeks to carry out a progress review with you and your employer.

What will this training cost me?

This can vary depending on the age of the Apprentice and the size of an organisation. There will be no cost to the Apprentic
