Training as a hairdresser is a rewarding experience and a great career. You need to be highly motivated and focussed in gaining your qualification in Hairdressing.
This is a demanding course which will require you to have a range of models for practise and progression towards assessment (fee payable by clients/customers). You will need good communication skills, an interest in fashion & style and a passion for hairdressing.
This is a VRQ Level 2 hairdressing course – advanced skills are developed in the Level 3 Certificate in Hairdressing course whilst you continue to develop your skills within the industry. We do strongly advise you undertake a work experience placement within a salon alongside your studies.
Teaching includes a range of demonstrations, practical sessions (realistic work environment) and practise workshops. The basis of the assessment system is to provide evidence that shows you can work to a performance standard. Assessments for Level 2 are carried out by an assessor observing your practical work, oral questioning, and projects and on-line tests. You will be given guidance by your tutor on the various types of evidence that can be used.
Some of the units you will cover on this course include:-
- Client Consultation
- Shampoo & Conditioning
- Cutting Women’s and Men’s Hair
- Colouring
- Styling & Dressing
