What is it like to study this course and how will I be assessed?

Massage is one of the most immediate, accessible and pleasurable complementary therapies, especially when applied using pre-blended aromatherapy oils.   The pre-blended oils contain properties that can have added healing effects and benefits, such as: relaxation, uplifting, stimulation or creating a sense of well-being for your client.

The emphasis of this course is towards practical development of massage techniques using pre-blended oils, and initially you will practice on your fellow students in the group.

There is theory work which will include knowledge of a range of pre-blended aromatherapy oils, and the relevant safety precautions associated with their use and application.  You will explore how to select appropriate products and oils, to suit a variety of different client needs and how to evaluate their effectiveness.

In addition you will study the structure and functions of the body systems in relation to pre-blended massage treatments.  As a Massage Therapist the highest standards of personal presentation are required and you will also develop your communication skills and personal professionalism.

Once a level of competence is reached, clients are to be used for practical observation assessments.

You will develop a portfolio of evidence and will be assessed practically, theoretically and orally in all areas.

Completed portfolios are verified and should include: Assessment books, case studies, assignments and theoretical papers/on line tests as applicable.
