What is it like to study this course and how will I be assessed?

This Advanced Apprenticeship is aimed at individuals working in a business administration role within any industry. Administration skills are crucial to the efficiency of any organisation and the programme develops a highly transferable skill set and knowledge across a range of administrative practices and tasks. The Apprentice will gain a thorough understanding of current theory and practice, which is respected and recognised by practitioners and employers alike.


When on your college day-release, you will be supported by your Skills Trainer. You will spend the remainder of the week in the workplace. Whilst at work, your Skills Officer will visit you and carry out assessments.

What experiences will I get?

You need to be employed in an office environment.

What are the entry requirements?

You will usually have completed the Level 2 Apprenticeship to progress on to the Advanced Apprenticeship. You need to have a job working in an office environment. Every employer is different and therefore the entry requirements can vary. As a guide you ideally need GCSE grade 4 or above in English and Maths. However, we will work with you and provide additional support in order to help you achieve the functional skills element or GCSE requirements of the Apprenticeship. Support can be delivered either prior to your Apprenticeship via a traineeship or during the delivery of your programme.

What facilities are there?

You will have access to a learning resource centre. There is a refectory in Victoria House.

What can the course lead on to?

Apprentices will be working towards achievement of the following:

  • Level 3 Diploma for the Business Administrator
  • Functional Skills in IT, English and Maths (where applicable)

You may progress to a level 4 course such as HNC/HND and Certificate/Diploma in Management Studies.

What support can I get?

You will have a dedicated Skills Officer who you can contact at any time. They will visit you in the workplace every 10 weeks to carry out a progress review with you and your employer.
