What is it like to study this course and how will I be assessed?

This VRQ is for technicians who maintain hybrid vehicles and the hybrid system itself. It contains the knowledge and skills required to work safely in and around the vehicle's hybrid system.

On completion of this qualification, technicians will be assessed to practically demonstrate that they have the knowledge and skills required for repairing vehicles with high voltage hybrid technologies.

Dates are as follows:

  • 07/11/2018 to 08/11/2018 - Wednesday to Thursday, 09:00-16:30
  • 06/02/2019 to 07/02/2019 - Wednesday to Thursday, 09:00-16:30
  • 09/11/2018 to 10/11/2018 - Thursday to Friday, 09:00-16:30

What topics will I study?

You will follow examples given in the course manual, working at your own pace, with guidance from an experienced member of staff who will be available at all times to help you gain confidence quickly

What are the entry requirements?

A good understanding of current automotive technology and electrical principals.

What facilities are there?

A new £11.3 million Technology Centre at Monkerton opened in September 2012. The centre combines the training and teaching of aerospace, engineering and automotive students with access to state of the art equipment within world class facilities. You will also have access to a learning resource centre.

What can the course lead on to?

A level 3 qualification which will allow Technicians to work safely on Hybrid vehicles in a motor vehicle workshop.
