What is it like to study this course and how will I be assessed?

Emergency First Aid at Work is a theoretical and practical course. The qualification covers the syllabus as outlined by the Health and Safety Executive. On completion of this course you can be recognised by an employer as an Emergency First Aider. The course is suitable for those wishing to gain valuable life skills either for employment or with friends and family.

Dates are as follows:

  • 13/10/18 to 13/10/18 - Sat 9:00 17:00
  • 26/01/18 to 26/01/18 - Sat 9:00 17:00
  • 11/05/19 to 11/05/19 - Sat 9:00 17:00

Lunch break is 12:30-13:00.

What topics will I study?

Students must be prepared to engage in practical activities including treating casualties who will be on the floor. 

What are the entry requirements?

This course is suitable for complete beginners or for this with some experience of first aid. It is essential that you are fit and able to work on the floor as we will be teaching life saving resusitation skills which require you to work on the floor and be able to get up and down comfortably. Maximum group size is 12 to allow you to have individual attention and time to have any questions fully answered.  Bring a packed lunch as the day is intense.

What facilities are there?

Learners will be given a college ID badge and have access to all college facilities, including learning centres and computers. 

What can the course lead on to?

Those who successfully complete the course will have the skills and knowledge to be Emergency First Aiders who can provide treatment to their casualties in a prompt, safe and effective manner.

Are there any additional costs?

The fee covers the registration and certification.


It is important that you apply and pay for your course at least one week before the course starts to ensure that you will have access to all the facilities and resources in your first week.
Please be aware that there are no car parking facilities at Exeter College city centre sites, but public car parks are available across the city.
