Want to work in a dynamic and successful college?
Exeter College places teaching, learning and student success as our top priority. We depend on excellent people to achieve and sustain our outstanding performance.
Why work for us?
Exeter College is a thriving and growing tertiary college which places teaching, learning and student success as our top priority. We enjoy an excellent regional reputation. The college was judged as outstanding by Ofsted in a pilot “no notice” inspection in 2012, and again in a public inspection in 2014. We were awarded the Times Education Supplements’ College of the Year Award in 2012 and are currently the BTEC School/College of the Year 2014/15
In recent years the college has won a number of prestigious awards, including featuring twice in the Sunday Times “Best Places to Work” survey.
We depend on exceptional people to sustain our outstanding performance and therefore offer excellent conditions of employment and extensive professional development to all our staff.
We offer two defined benefits pension schemes, which scheme you are in will depend on whether you are in a teaching or support role. For further information visit the Teachers’ Pensions website or visit the Local Government Pension Scheme website.
We know how hard our staff work and we believe our generous holiday entitlement gives staff the opportunity to have a good work life balance. We have a shut down period at Christmas too.
We have a college nursery (just off Queen Street). For more information on the Government Tax-Free Childcare Scheme (TFC) please visit www.gov.uk/tax-free-childcare
Cycle to work scheme
We offer a cycle scheme which lets you pay for a bicycle and cycling safety equipment to enable you to commute to and from your workplace directly from your salary. You can spread the cost of brand new equipment up to the value of £1000 over one year and save money in the process.
We offer staff discounts including IT software, taxi fares, external gym membership, sports injury and massage treatments and removal companies. Staff are also able to apply for an NUS Extra card.
- Staff Development
We recognise the need to develop and retain outstanding staff and therefore invest heavily in a vast range of opportunities for continuous professional development. These include:
- Staff development fund – enabling staff to attend external training and development events to enhance their skills
- Staff development days – we deliver a number of training days offering a range of sessions to support the development of both teaching and support staff, including wellbeing focussed sessions.
- Leadership and Management Programme – we work closely with an external management consultant to develop the operational and strategic thinking of the college’s management and leadership teams
- Improvement Practitioners – we utilise a core group of exceptional teaching practitioners to maintain and develop the standard of teaching delivery
We have an on-site gym, Central Fitness, which is available for all staff to use at a discounted rate. We run a variety of classes including spinning, yoga and Pilates. Click here to visit our Central Fitness page.
